I’m thrilled the New York Times finally has what looks to be a dedicated comedy column. And I really enjoyed today’s article about how Twitter is such a valuable tool for comedians- specifically ones who want to write for late night talk shows, it would seem.

But I have to say…sometimes when someone’s Twitter feed is ALL jokes, ALL the time, it makes me feel like I’m reading the text form of those annoying “wacky bitz!!!” wormholes you get sucked into at any number of nameless Irish pubs adjacent to any number of improv theaters in Chelsea. Like, that person who can’t just look in your eyes and talk to you, but instead chooses to insert a witty jab in between everyone’s sentences or go into a Robin Williams fugue state and channel inanimate objects, using a stupid accent. I can tolerate that for only so long before I have to leave, lest I kick someone in the nuts.

Same with Twitter feeds I follow- I can only read so many lukewarm forced quips before I start to resent the person for wasting my time with their Kimmel packet runoff. Sometimes, it’s funnier to give a reader some genuine insight into what makes you tick versus, JokeBitz 3000.

The meanest girl in the whole wide world.
